sound checks |
thanks to stephanie who sent me this:
good fans, as you know matthew good kicks off his national tour on march 20th in nanaimo, bc. throughout the tour, we'll be announcing on houseofsmokeandmirrors.com a limited number of 'soundcheck sessions' for registered hosam members. keep your eyes on this page to find out if a soundcheck session will take place in your area. access to the soundcheck sessions will be limited to 20 fans per city, who have a concert ticket to the specified show and a hosam’s card. both the ticket and the card will have to be shown to get into the event. when a soundcheck session is officially announced, send an email to matthew.good@umusic.ca with your full name, address, city, province, postal code, phone number, and age along with your valid hosam’s registration number. (as a courtesy, if you live in winnipeg and have ticket to see matthew good perform in winnipeg, please do not respond to attend a soundcheck session in victoria.)
we will start announcing the soundcheck sessions this coming monday, march 17, 2003.
---
this means, if you plan on going to the concert and you don't have the album, run out and get it!! good luck, and if anyone gets in, i want to hear about it! hehe

a world called catastrophe |
|
according to going coastal on muchmusic, a world called catastrophe is going to be the new single from avalanche. this hasn't been confirmed by matthew good or universal, so this information is subject to change.
|
|
| 1/14/2003 |
universal confirms 4th; next single? |
universal has confirmed the 4th of march to be the release date of avalanche. go to the website here. thanks to scott for sending me the link.
also, it looks like the second single will be released in february. no word as to which song it will be. in the meantime, weapon has climbed another 3 spots to 11 on the recently resumed muchmusic countdown.

latest news.. |
well, i'm getting more and more news by the hour, thanks to everyone who's e-mailed me with information. we've also got different places saying different things about the avalanche release date.
today newagesoldier (from our message board) received word from rich priske that the album would indeed not be released until the 4th of march. this is as official as we have heard at the moment, and this is subject to change. i have removed the countdown from the site because i am unsure of the actual release date at this point in time.
i have also received several e-mails from people listening to the edge 102.1 in toronto, and they announced that the album release would be on the 10th of february. this information is false, as the 10th is a monday.
the first newsletter from massacre in disguise was sent out yesterday. if you do not subscribe and wish to read the newsletter, i have put it up here. you can subscribe for the newsletter on the news page. also, if you are a hotmail user, or have filters on your mail for junk, you may have to check your junk mail folder for the newsletter, as it is a mass e-mail (to about 50 people at this point).
that's all for now..

avalanche held back? |
there are rumours floating around that avalanche isn't due to be released until early march. once i get confirmation of this, i'll let you know, but until then, the date is still february 18th.
over at the newly resurrected aph, they've also been saying that avalanche may have been mixed in 5.1 (i'm pretty sure its something that dolby uses), which could possibly mean surround sound. i have no confirmation of this yet, and again will let you know if i do get some.

aph returns & site updates |
the aph is back! most of you received e-mails i'm sure, but those who didn't, you can find the aph here. see the previous news item for pavan's message to aopc visitors.
i really didn't make many updates, just some small things here and there, but i moved many pages around on the server, so if you have any of the pages bookmarked, you might want to check to see if they are still there, and update your bookmarks.

a message from invasion1 |
Sorry guys, but I don't think we'll be coming back. You can only take so much bullshit until the rest just isn't worth it anymore. I remember when we started up Matt told me to have fun with the site and if I'm not having fun with it there's no point in wasting my time on it. I've just run into one too many a roadblock with the hosting and fighting for the site is just not something I have the time or wherewithall for anymore. Although I'm not officially putting the nail in the coffin, I'd say it's a 95% chance we won't be back.
If that is in fact the case, thank you to the following:
Adam M. (for being my silent partner in crime)
Jason (for moderating the APH and the Halifax bootleg)
Adam (Moderating the board and hosting avatars)
Bishop (Moderating, Tabbing, Recording Audio)
Tim (Moderating the board, sticking up for me in the famous Weapon debate)
Ev (Moderating)
sLcPunk (Moderating)
a better pain (Moderating)
Aaron Hayes aka Gandalf (Tabs)
Jordan aka Rorschach (Tabs)
Taylor (Donating Posters for the AOPC contest)
Daniel (Pictures, Concert Review)
Courtney Stoiber
Gregory Johnston (Wallpapers)
Jeff Fujiwara (for saving those desperately needed images)
Derrick Kennelty-Cohen (Wallpapers)
E.B. (Cayuga review)
Mer (linking to us from TPT.net in our time of need)
David Case (weapon shoot photos among other things)
All the posters at the APH, whether you had 10 posts or 1000.
Anybody else who supplied me with any content for the site that I'm forgetting, be it wallpapers, reviews, news, tabs or what have you. Also, thanks to the man himself, Matt Good for the Q&A way back when, getting me into the Waterloo show and for providing the motive for making this site.
*********
we here at massacreindisguise.net are sorry to see AOPC go, and hope that pavan and crew will be back in the future. best of luck to the AOPC team. hopefully we'll see you around.

happy new year!
i'd like to thank everyone who visits massacre in disguise for supporting this place through its first half year. thanks for all your comments and feedback, and the growing presence on the message board.
i'm not really one to make new year's resolutions, but i hope to complete much more of this site prior to the album release in february. if you have any matthew good (band) info, links, pictures, etc. that you'd like to donate or allow us to use, please contact me at jeff@massacreindisguise.net.
thank you, your webmaster,

some site updates |
there is a thumbnail of the weapon single in the discogrgraphy section of the site. i'll get a larger one for people to see, but there's not much to the cover, most of us have seen the "missles" on the mg website.
also, i'm working on getting song info up in the lyrics section. if you notice some weird things going on there, its because its going to be under a little construction.
try out the windows startup screen in the downloads section. let me know if it works on your computer.

you can unsubscribe by clicking here, or e-mail me with "unsubscribe" in the subject line, and your e-mail address in the message itself.
the newsletter may not start for a couple weeks. if you have any questions, please let me know.

after 4 weeks on the charts , the weapon video has reached the 18 spot on the muchmusic countdown. so far its been a slow mover, but with the album info release, and the campaign to get weapon played nearly everywhere, will we see it pick up speed and reach number 1?

matthew good will be on muchmusic's too hot or not on december 11, 2002 (wednesday). the show addresses using sex in music videos to sell records. maybe we'll see clips of hello time bomb, or the future is x-rated.. more news on this when it airs.. in the meantime, you can check out the chart article.

u.s. exposure |
as posted by debaser at the AOPC forum:
I don't know if there's anyone else in the states that posts here, but if so, FYI, they're finally giving "Weapon" airplay on MM USA...I also thought I caught the tail end of it the other day on M2, but I'm not positive.
this is great news for everyone in the lower 48. promotion increases the chance of an album release, or tour dates in the future.

could things be any slower?
i put a couple more links up to other fansites. more to come eventually. also, i went through the first half of the demos (alphabetically) and tried my best to correct the lyrics. i did up to and including the letter "m" i think. although i had some trouble with mercy misses you. give it a shot if you'd like, and let me know what you come up with.

big shiny tunes 7 |
today is the release date of big shiny tunes 7 (from muchmusic). as most of you know, weapon, the first single from matthew good's upcoming album, will be on bst7. as to whether the album or radio version is on the disc, i'm not sure.
i've added a little to the videography as well, there should be some actual information when you click on the load me up and carmelina videos. i've taken screen shots from almost every video, so it shouldn't be too long before i get them all going.
traffic to massacre in disguise was up the last couple days due to some sites and message boards being down. advertising on police cars is now back in business. be sure to visit and update your bookmarks. the link has also been updated in the links section of the site.
|
|
| 11/7/2002 |
discography |
i've added more to the discography page, but i'm still lacking pictures for some of the items. i'll go through my images and see if i can find something, but if you can contribute images of the cover of any album, it would be greatly appreciated.
i'm finding out more and more exactly how much work still needs to be done on the site. things that come to mind:
band & bios
tour date reviews
disco pages for each single and demo
correcting lyrics
videography pages
images
product pages
tabs
articles
well, i'll see if i can attack a couple of those over the next week or so. i'll probably do the easy ones first. heh.
|
|
| 11/3/2002 |
cleaning up |
unfortunately, nothing new to report in the world of matthew good. big shiny tunes will be out soon, but that's about it.
i'm working on organizing my server, moving things around here and there. if some of the images, or links do not work, please let me know. its something that i should have thought about when i first put up the site, but i didn't. every page that is up now should stay working, i'm just concerned about images, and links. so let me know if you encounter any difficulty using the site. thank you.
the message board has been moved, and if it continues to operate without any problems for a week, i will remove the old one from the server. if you have bookmarked any of the pages, please update your bookmarks.

at last... |
..there hasn't be much to say lately. things are slowing down after a busy month in the matthew good world. don't worry, i'm not keeping anyone in the dark.
i've updated a couple of the lyrics in the lyric section, as they were incorrect. if you come across what you think is an error in the lyrics, send me an e-mail, and i'll see if i can straighten that out.
also, hopefully i'll have a new feature up very soon. i've been working on it on and off for a while now, and last i remember its almost done.

a message from matt |
here's a message from matt that was posted on ptd.net message board:
To everyone that came out on Saturday, sorry about that. But to be honest with you I was against the whole crowd idea to begin with. My original idea was to do something that more resembled the Stones - Sympathy For The Devil, and after we wrapped the extras I think we got what I wanted. Performance videos rely on two things. Lighting (which we had a genius doing) and performance. I find that a great deal of those videos are boring because of the bands and what they do on film. Hopefully this will be a little more The Who live on the Isle Of Wight rather than “just another warehouse video”.
As Matt Gibson will attest to, I was upset that people had come out and we had to let them go. We had had camera troubles in the early part of the day and there’s just no preparing people for the “film” experience when they’re not used to the fact that it’s all about standing around and doing nothing. Making actual films is much worse. Imagine months instead of just a day or two. After I took a look at the playbacks I hated it immediately as it looked like one of those Sum 41 type videos, which is a far cry from Sympathy For The Devil. I also wasn’t happy about losing the feel that you could plainly see it was a set and a shoot. In the film we shot afterwards you could very much see people hanging about and equipment and the crane truck and whatnot, very nice indeed.
We got so much good stuff, in fact, that I think we’re going to do 3 or 4 versions of it hopefully and have one online that’s nothing like the one on television. That’s the goal anyway.
I’m kind of glad actually that only 300 or so people came (I think 332 was the last count but it looked small in that huge place). If Ante and I had to make that call with 800 extras there it would have produced some pissed off people I would think. But luckily short notice and a bit of a trek kept the usual downtown location crowds away. Every time you do something like that in the city it’s just rammed because it’s central. That and you also have people who have no idea what it’s all about showing up simply because it means they get to be on TV. Once you leave downtown you don’t have that problem so much and it paid off on Saturday (no offense you guys, but I’m really glad that it ended up like it did. If it had gone the other way I might have been forced to do something drastic after I viewed the transfer).
But thanks again to everyone that made it. To those who don’t suffer from ADD and stayed around to see how it all works, I hope it was just as educational as it was fun. And I also hope you learned that jumping up in the air and coming down on your knees on a concrete floor can only result in one thing.
Pain.
Dreadful, you’re not a young man anymore you stupid idiot, pain.
Ta.

update! |
i'm back, so hopefully i'll be updating more frequently again, and getting more info up on the site.
yesterday, just east of the lonsdale quay in north vancouver, matt and the band were shooting the video for weapon with fans from the area as extras. fans that were there said that the shoot didn't turn out as planned, and some said they stayed late for the filming. i went down there late last night, but couldn't find anything going on.
the tour has wrapped up, and i haven't received any reviews! if you'd like to contribute, please e-mail me at jeff@massacreindisguise.net.
the rx has been taken down, and rumours have been flying at the other mg(b) communities on the web. check them out by visiting the links page. someone leaked a track listing for the album, and someone supposedly posted pictures of matt's home on a message board. when will people ever learn?
that's enough for now, its all beginning to sound like a tabloid. i've got to focus on work, and how to get this place some more traffic.

lots of news! |
i leave the computer for 24 hours, and what happens? there's a lot of things going on in the mg-verse. and i'm the last one to report any of it. but i have a good excuse: i was out looking for a place to live, and i took my father out for dinner for his birthday. so happy birthday to my dad.
tour: It seems the idiot at the U of G has somehow fucked up and cancelled the show today. I heard some half assed excuses on the phone today but I don't have all the info. But what I am doing is playing THE DRINK for everyone that wanted to come. So we moved and it will probably be dead quiet as no one will know I'd reckon, so enjoy.
Unless, that is, you miss the metallica power ballad version of apparitions. Then I beg of you to stay at home.
posted by matt at the rx.
CAUTION:its been rumoured that the show is now taking place at club denim, monday at 8pm, but i would be careful if i were going. good luck to anyone who is going to the concert.
album: there is also reports on the rx (although i can't find an official one, that weapon will be the first single from the new album (which was previously denied by matt.). the video is being shot during the current tour. if anyone has some official news of this, please let me know.
we here at massacre in disguise have a pretty good idea why the video is being recorded right now (there's a lot of speculation), but that's going to be a surprise. i'm sure someone who knows will come along and ruin it though. =)
well, i think i'm up to date. - jeff

check out the new tour dates! 7 shows in 9 days!
the image section should have some images in it, and the manifestos are up. more stuff will be coming soon.
that's all for now. oh, and if you are to be attending any of the upcoming shows on the eastern tour, please send concert info my way. thanks!
